What Are Yak Sticks?
Yak Sticks originated from the Himalayas. They would use yak milk (hence the name Yak Sticks) and dry the milk into hard, tough blocks, making the perfect chew for their dogs.
Our Himalayan Milk Bars, also known as Yak Sticks, use the same techniques. Instead of yak milk, we use 100% cows milk mixed with a tiny amount of fresh lime.
The milk is pasteurized, coagulated and pressed. The end product is dried for a minimum of 30 days to deliver premium quality dog chews.
Every Himalayan Milk Bar is handmade.
They contain extraordinary nutritious properties including:
CALCIUM: actively contributes to the development of bones and teeth.
POTASSIUM: regulates the nervous system and prevents fatigue, muscle weakness and cramping.
ZINC: favours development/growth, softens the skin and improves your immune system.
BIOTIN: promotes cell growth and digestive metabolism.
FOLIC ACID: reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer.
IRON, PHOSPHORUS, MAGNESIUM, MANGANESE AND SODIUM
VITAMINS: A, B1, C, D, E AND K, increase the production of red and white blood cells and improve vision.
How To Use A Yak Stick
Our nutritional Himalayan Milk Bar is not a meal substitute. For its optimal consumption, enjoyment and duration we will allow our dog to chew on our Himalayan bar for a while (depending on your dog’s voracity) after which we will take it away until next time. With a gradual dosage, your Himalayan bar will last for days or even weeks and your dog will appreciate it as a snack. As in all cases where your dog chews on something, it is recommended to supervise your dog while chewing the Himalayan bar.
In case your dog swallows a piece of the Himalayan bar, we shall not panic since it is 100% digestible and it does not harm your dog’s digestive system.
It is important to follow our size guide. You should buy the correct size Milk Bar based your dog’s weight.
We recommend a dog should be at least 9 months old or have their adult teeth?
This does depend on your dog. We recommend 15 to 25 minutes at any one time.
To preserve freshness, you should store the stick in a cool, dry place. If you have an airtight container, this would be best.
The Yak Sticks contain only three ingredients. Pure cows milk, fresh lime juice and a tiny pinch of salt.
Salt in large amounts is harmful for dogs as it is for humans. However in our Himalayan Milk Bars we only use a tiny amount of salt along with lime juice to get the cheese to coagulate (harden) at the very start of the process.
The salt content in our sticks is less than 0.1%.
